From trainee to a full-time job at Reitan Retail
The leadership trainees who completed the program in spring 2025.
Five leadership trainees are ready for new roles
In spring 2025, five new trainees completed Reitan Retail’s two-year leadership trainee program. After two educational and rewarding years at Reitan Retail, Helene, Kaya, Halvor, Mithun, and Silje are now ready to take on new roles across different parts of the organization.
These are the new roles the trainees will move into:
- Silje will join the Finance Department at Reitan Retail
- Kaya will become part of REMA Distribution
- Halvor will join the HR Department at Uno-X
- Helene will step into Innovation and Private Label at REMA 1000
- Mithun will join the Operations team at REMA 1000
What do you learn as a leadership trainee at Reitan Retail?
Over two years, the trainees have gained insight into the entire value chain – from store operations and training of store managers to distribution and product development. They have worked closely with both people and processes, experiencing the strengths and challenges of a leading Nordic retail company.
— We had a steep learning curve through the talent school, starting with understanding life as a store manager and how to run a store, says Helene, who has worked with Sales and Marketing, and Private Labels at REMA 1000 Norway, including a period at REMA 1000 Denmark.
Cross-functional experience across the Nordics and Baltics
The trainees have worked across companies and borders, visiting regional offices, factories, distribution centers, and stores – gaining a deep understanding of the REITAN-culture in practice.
— We’ve seen everything from production and distribution of goods to how we train new store managers. We’ve gained insight into operations in Norway as well as in other Reitan Retail countries across the Nordics and Baltics.

How the leadership trainee program works at Reitan Retail
The leadership trainee program is a unique opportunity to develop as a leader at Reitan Retail. Over the course of two years, you explore at least two different roles within our four business areas: Reitan Convenience, Uno-X Mobility, REMA 1000 Norway, and REMA 1000 Denmark.
You get to work with strong brands and learn about grocery retail, product development, finance, sustainability, and much more!
The program provides solid experience and insight into leadership development within retail and is tailored to each individual. The goal is to educate the next generation of specialists and leaders at Reitan Retail.
— Getting to know the people in the organization has been the most rewarding part. People have shared openly and honestly, and shown pride in what they do, says Silje, who will work on sustainability reporting in the Finance Department at Reitan Retail.
